“Advice and the 4 Pillars of Love” began with a dream, quite literally.  My beloved Pap passed away and three nights later he vividly appeared in my dreams, tattooing a rough image of a train and “we will understand all things when we understand the 4 pillars of love” on my right hand and forearm.  I awoke terrified that the tattoo was real, as the dream was so very vivid. Thus began some sketches, first to imprint the image, exactly as it was in the dream, onto paper. I then delved into research looking for these “four pillars”.  After some digging, I cobbled together concepts from Christianity, Judaism, ancient Greek beliefs and even some psychological theories and found some critical overlapping areas.   Thus, the four pillars became: Equality, Lust, Veracity and Admiration. This is the first use of floral symbolism in my work, in #3 Veracity, the white chrysanthemumis used for it's symbolic meaning: truth.
